Ethics and health
In the work conducted with my colleagues Lise Fillion, Manon Truchon and Mahée Paiement on workplace stressors, it was possible to show the significant links between well-being and culture. Workplaces that were highly concerned with health and well-being at work also demonstrated the characteristics of an ethical culture. Lack of ethical culture and concern for well-being and health increased distress at work. These preliminary studies are continuing with a view to establishing strong links between the concepts of ethical culture, health and well-being at work.

Conference midi IDEA The impact of an ethical culture on well-being at work
Time: 50:10
Lyse Langlois (Scientific Director of the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Artificial Intelligence and Digital (OIISIAN) and Director of IDEA) Manon Truchon (Full professor at the School of Psychology at Université Laval)
This conference is based on the results of an empirical study carried out in the higher education sector in 2019-2020. The study is to investigate whether there are links between occupational health and well-being (Truchon’s model, 2019) and ethical culture (Kaptein, 2013; Sweeney et al., 2010; Ardichvilli et al., 2009; Arezoon and Azam, 2016). Based on a survey (N=2770) and in-depth interviews (N=24), the results highlighted the protective role of an ethical culture promoting psychological health and well-being at work.
